Claypool, IV, (Rev. Dr.) John Rowan. Papers

The Claypool Papers are a complete archive of the ministerial records of a noted American preacher. His writings are especially representative of modern themes of redemption, personal Christian witness, and the valuation of life in its diverse expression. Of narrower but significant interest is Claypool's theological transformation from Southern Baptist minister to Episcopal priest. The archive contains audiovisual recordings, indexed sermons, correspondence, books, photographs, news clippings, publicity materials, and scrapbooks.

Standing Commission on Church Music. Records

The records include detailed meeting minutes, budgets, and other administrative files, many of which document the preparation and publishing of The Hymnal 1982. Commission projects, research, and liturgical resources illustrate influences on the Commission’s decision making. Bland Tucker and Massey Shepherd figure largely among a number of interesting papers, statements, and Commission publications and publicity files. The Chilton Powell Institute program on the preparation of services in the Proposed Book of Common Prayer are documented. General correspondence is found throughout the files, giving evidence of the diverse associations of the Commission to commentators, contributors, and musicians.

This small collection documents an effort between the Episcopal Church and the Church of England to set up and maintain an exchange program across different polities and forms of church governance. Education for Mission and Ministry Unit. Records

This collection comprises a mixed series of Administrative Records and Subject Files that includes correspondence, reports, and printed material that appear to have been gathered selectively by an unknown office within the Education for Mission and Ministry cluster.

Prominent topics include the Diocese of Puerto Rico, Clergy Studies, and the National Institute for Lay Training (NILT). The NILT became the legal successor to the Church Army in 1975, promoting the training of laity for service to the Church community through the placement of volunteers in parish programs and seminaries. Of particular interest are General Convention committee records and a 1973 study by the Office of Development, “What You Said,” concerning diocesan needs and priorities.
