Records and official papers of the legislative sessions in joint gathering, including the legislative and special committee records (minutes, documents and other papers, including sanctioned audio, video, and electronic recordings of the proceedings.

These records contain memorials and petitions that were submitted to the General Convention, via either the House of Bishops or the House of Deputies, between 1853 and 1949. Memorials and petitions urge the Church to commend or commemorate a person, event, or other matter, or to take a stance on an issue that could result in official legislative action.

The committee’s records reflect the work done to create a vehicle for crafting projects and resources for parishes to celebrate the role of religion in marking the country’s bicentennial of independence. Records were also generated by two subcommittees of the Bicentennial Committee: Budget and “Forward Look”, to define future directions for the Church, especially in relation to the Bicentennial theme, "liberty and justice for all.” The latter committee met in 1975 and was chaired by Hodding Carter III. Materials reflect The Episcopal Church’s relationship with one of the three main organizational sections of the Anglican Communion – the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC). Records include correspondence, memos, delegate reports, meeting minutes, and newsletters. The ACC was formed following a resolution of a second organizational structure of the Communion, the Lambeth Conference, which at its 1968 meeting discerned the need for more frequent and representative contact among the Churches.

Manuscript collection created by General Convention mandate and appointment of a Conservator, Francis Lister Hawks and _Perry, including subsequent additions; sometimes called the Hawks Manuscript Collection, the whole includes several other MSS collections.

A category that distinguishes the establishment of foreign mission churches and the missionaries sent by the DFMS, including personnel records generated on individuals engaged in work outside the United States and in Episcopal Church provincial jurisdiction. The records document recruitment, training, and placement of DFMS missionaries or representatives, mission volunteers, and others engaged in evangelism or service work abroad or in technical assistance to others in jurisdictions beyond the United States. The records also frequently contain abundant personal information on individual experiences in foreign service.

Records of the Lay Ministry Office consist of the work product of staff officer Barry Menuez from 1973 to 1980. The records consist mainly of correspondence with some minutes, reports, conference materials and publications. These records document the changing status of women in the Episcopal Church and the Church's effort to involve part of the laity in the ministry of the Church. The topical files provide little supporting evidence of the range of activities of the office, but the serial newsletter called The 99% is a good resource.

The Records of Venture in Mission reflect the early years of the program and include administrative records, correspondence, committee reports, and records relating to projects and fundraising efforts in individual domestic and foreign dioceses.

Correspondence, minutes, reports, publications, and photographs primarily document the time period when the Rev. Franklin D. Turner served as Coordinator for Black Ministries. Also included are some early photographs dating back to 1946.
