- Abstract: Venture in Mission (VIM) was a large scale fundraising program adopted at the 1976 General Convention. It resolved to issue a call to the church to work and pray for a “Venture in Mission” to provide mission development funding for the national church. Fundraising initiatives focused on areas that governmental programs often neglected including special ministries, community-based ministry for marginalized populations around social concerns (e.g. poverty, housing, etc.), education, lay and ordained ministry development, urban and rural work, health services, and community development.
