Abstract

In 1957, Norman Wates, a London businessman, made funds available to the Archbishop of Canterbury for financing the costs of a clergy exchange program with the Episcopal Church. The program made it possible for pairs of priests to exchange their parishes for a year in order to know the each other's church and country better. Warren Turner, Jr. directed the program for the Presiding Bishop. Fourteen exchanges took place between 1958 and 1967.

It contains views of life in both countries and a case study of the relations between the churches in a joint program.
