Abstract

At the 1967 General Convention, a Plan for Prayer Book Revision was outlined by the Standing Liturgical Commission. At the 1970 General Convention the revisions were accepted for trial use. Elmer Beamer, a layperson who served on the Panel of Readers and Correspondents, compiled the records for the revisions. Beamer was nominated to the same panel for the 1973 General Convention, where a plan for implementing revisions and a report on trial use was presented. After 1974, the committee restructured its work for the purposes of moving forward with publication.
