    • Abstract: National Council established an advisory committee in 1940 called the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief (PBFWR) “to receive contributions for the relief of human needs created by the war." With the conclusion of the war in 1945, emphasis changed with the creation of the Committee on Aid to Sister Churches to be funded by PBFWR beginning in 1946. At the General Convention of that year, delegates approved raising one million dollars per year for relief work and inter-church aid. In April 1950, the renamed Committee on World Relief and Church Cooperation was authorized to make appropriations for both world relief and church cooperation. By February 1960 National Council had established a new Committee with a supporting Division of World Relief and Inter-Church Aid under the Christian Social Relations Department.
