The Papers of Massey H. Shepherd, Jr. include materials pertaining to Shepherd’s personal life, his teaching career, and his many responsibilities as a priest for The Episcopal Church. Shepherd was a prolific writer and the collection contains a great deal of his research and written work, both published and unpublished. Also included is correspondence, printed material, and Church publications which reflect the wide range of Shepherd's interests as well as the many Church agencies and functions with which he was associated.

This fonds documents the work of Ecumenical Officer Peter Day in representing the Episcopal Church on various external Christian bodies engaged in consultation on common liturgical and social matters, as well as discussions of unity. Of particular note are the Episcopal Church's files on the Consultation on Church Unity (COCU). Correspondence, reports, newsletters, articles, questionnaires are also found in the records.
